Mouse Trap is a surreal scene depicting a mouse and cage from the board game “Mouse Trap”, a butterfly rolling dice that send ripples through the environment as they land, and a large figure in the background with trees growing from their back and 3 objects orbiting their head. This piece was inspired by the butterfly effect from chaos theory. The Rube Goldberg machine from “Mouse Trap” is like a physical analogue of the idea of the butterfly effect as the butterfly is rolling the cosmic dice sending ripples through the environment and deciding the future, all while the player watches over.
