Here on the south-side of the hundred acre woods we stumble upon the illustrations. fascinating creatures known for their colorful plumage and strange sometimes abrasive personalities. Here we will attempt to approach the Illustrations for a better look so that we may acquire a greater understanding of these magnificent beasts and more perspective on their purpose on this planet.
Kay Birthday Piece. 2020. Procreate
This piece depicts two friends of mine standing in front of an abstract mural with references to some of our favorite places in San Francisco. It is meant to be a fun exaggerated character design project of my friends based on their personalities and individual styles. It was created as a commission for my friend’s birthday.

This piece depicts two hands, one holding a mug of beer and the other gripping a bald eagle tightly, while they cheers. This was a commission I created for a blog website titled “Cheers to the People” that speaks about various political and social issues in the United States. It is meant to be a comical depiction of the overall thesis of the blog itself.

First all of the motifs were drawn by hand and then brought into illustrator to be inked and colored. It was created as a free-flow imagination exercise to create a modern abstract psychedelic illustration.

This Photoshop painting depicts Allen Iverson being interviewed at the Olympics in 2002. This piece was created by hand-drawn line-work using alcohol markers then scanned into Photoshop and painted over. It was created as a gift for my brother (biggest A.I. fan I know), and as a study of color variation on skin, clothing, and marbled surfaces.

This Photoshop painting depicts a Leprechaun celebrating in front of a golden backdrop. This piece was created using hand-drawn pen on paper, then scanned and brought into Photoshop to be painted. It was created as a flyer to advertise a club event for the Phi Delta Theta fraternity (hence the name phi-rish).

This packaging design was created for Bouldt and Son's Canna-Drops, hand-made Victorian style marijuana infused medicated candy drops. It was created to evoke the feeling of an elixir that the traveling salesman in the 1800's might carry, only this comes with real medical benefits. The frame and everything withing were all drawn by hand with a ballpoint pen by the artist himself.

This piece depicts a surrealist illustration inspired by the Once-Ler from Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax”. It was created as album artwork for a local Seattle rapper. It is made as a reference to crippling addiction that ruins the persons life and pride keeping them trapped in their house from the shame, much as the Once-Ler from the book fell from his hubris.

It was created as an album cover for my friend a fellow artist Rachel. She told me to listen to the single from her album and create a piece based on it.

This illustration was created as a spread for a zine that was meant to stand as a symbol for the artist them self. For this piece I decided to have almost no text and basically only illustration to represent my aesthetic (as I sees himself mostly as an illustrator). It is my opinion that any viewer could learn more about an artist from a drawing then they could from all of the text that will fit on the page.

This album cover depicts 90's African American family sitcom legends in camouflage juxtaposed on top of money, drugs, and weapons. This piece was created using vector illustration in Adobe Illustrator. It was created to reflect the change from hip-hop as a tool to voice the problems in your community, to a self degrading machine to increase profits.

This illustration depicts a stylized rendition of the main character from the popular american anime mini-series "Afro Samurai". The animation style in "Afro Samurai" has long since been a huge inspiration for the artist's own illustration and a major reason why he started animating in the first place. This piece was created to be reminiscent of propaganda posters, especially around the time of WWII.

This piece depicts an abstract character design mosaic. It is meant to be a fun and whimsical design piece with various references to the person who commissioned it. It started with a loose commission of “draw me a raccoon” then evolved into the intense nonsense you see now. All the linework is created by hand and the coloring was done in Photoshop.

This piece depicts a dapper grizzly bear underwater trying to catch a salmon. It was created as an exercise in lighting and shading while using a painterly style. The idea came to me after I visited a bear sanctuary with my family where they had some very young playful bears running from pond to pond with their toys.

It was created as a poster to advertise a club event that was thanksgiving themed titled "Dranksgiving" (which I thankfully did not name).

This illustration was created as an advertisement for a neuroscience speaker series panel. It was created to depict the idea that the only thing that separates humans from machines is a complex, conscious, and self-aware mind. By depicting a robot with a human's brain acting in a spiritual manor it illustrated that the only thing you need to transcend cold logic is a complex mind.

This logo depicts a man wearing a beanie with a toothpick in his mouth juxtaposed over the phrase "D.M. Me Drawings" which is a play on the fact that my initials are D.M. and that it becomes an advertisements for people to "direct message" me drawings. This piece was created as my website logo using hand drawn pen & ink line-work which I scanned in and painted in Photoshop and then created the typography in Illustrator.

This illustration was created as an advertisement for a University of San Francisco viewing party of their upcoming game against Gonzaga University. It was created to look festive and bright, while maintaining the school's branding colors, and evoking the "who is going to win" feeling of suspense that draws people to sports events.
